Digital Law Worldwide Update
Monday Edition | 20 April 2026
Monday 13 April to Sunday 19 April 2026
This week's issue stretches digital law well beyond privacy alone. Europe pushed age-verification and children-online-policy work closer to implementation, the EDPB turned DPIAs and anonymisation into more repeatable documentation, Ofcom closed the first online-safety fees window while keeping assessment monitoring live, and the EU and South Korea moved a digital trade deal toward signature. In the United States, Virginia, Massachusetts, New York, and the FTC moved on location privacy, teen social-media design, surveillance controls, and fee transparency. The common thread is operationalisation: regulators and lawmakers are no longer just setting direction, they are issuing deadlines, templates, notices, and product rules that legal and product teams have to wire into day-to-day systems.
